Connect Cardinal Desktop Application to New Relic for monitoring logs, metrics, and traces.

Overview

New Relic is a comprehensive observability platform that provides insights into your applications and infrastructure. With the New Relic connector, your AI agents can:

  • Query logs, metrics, and traces from New Relic
  • Analyze application performance and user experience
  • Monitor infrastructure health across your systems
  • Track errors and anomalies in real-time
  • Correlate data across different observability signals

Prerequisites

  • New Relic account with API access enabled
  • New Relic Account ID (found in Account Settings)
  • New Relic User API key (starts with NRAK-)
  • Data flowing into New Relic (logs, metrics, or traces)
  • Access to New Relic account settings for API key management

Setup Wizard

Step 1 - Connection Configuration

  1. In Cardinal Desktop Application, go to Connectors and click Browse Connectors
  2. Select New Relic
  3. Enter a Display Name for this connection
    • Example: "New Relic Prod", "New Relic Dev", "New Relic Staging"

Step 2 - Account Configuration

  1. Enter your Account ID

    • Found in Account Settings → API Keys
    • Numeric identifier for your New Relic account
    • Example: 1234567
  2. Select your Region from the dropdown

    • US (api.newrelic.com) - For US-based accounts
    • EU (api.eu.newrelic.com) - For EU-based accounts
    • Choose the region where your New Relic account is hosted
  3. Enter your API Key (User Key)

    • Must start with NRAK-
    • Found in Account Settings → API Keys
    • Use a User API key (not a License key or Ingest API key)

Step 3 - Credentials Storage (Optional)

  1. Check Share credentials with organization to securely share with your organization
    • When disabled: credentials are stored locally on this device
    • When enabled: credentials are securely shared with your organization members

Step 4 - Save

  1. Click Save to complete the configuration
  2. Cardinal Desktop Application will verify connectivity to your New Relic account

Your AI agent can now query New Relic logs, metrics, and traces.
