Connect Cardinal Desktop Application to Thanos for querying and analyzing long-term metrics storage.

Overview

Thanos is an open-source project that extends Prometheus with long-term storage capabilities and global query views. With the Thanos connector, your AI agents can:

  • Query metrics across multiple Prometheus instances
  • Access long-term metric storage and historical data
  • Analyze time-series data with high availability
  • Track metric trends over extended periods
  • Identify patterns in long-term metric data

Connection Details

Prerequisites

  • Thanos Query server deployed and running
  • Base URL for your Thanos Query server (e.g., http://localhost:9090)
  • Network access to the Thanos Query server
  • Metrics data available in Thanos storage

Setup Wizard

Step 1 - Connection Configuration

  1. In Cardinal Desktop Application, go to Connectors and click Browse Connectors
  2. Select Thanos
  3. Enter a Display Name for this connection
    • Example: "Thanos Prod", "Thanos Dev", "Thanos Staging"

Step 2 - Thanos Configuration

  1. Enter your Thanos Query URL
    • Example: http://localhost:9090
    • The base URL of your Thanos Query server
    • Include the protocol (http or https)
    • Do not include a trailing slash

Step 3 - Connect

  1. Click Connect to verify connectivity to your Thanos Query server
  2. Cardinal Desktop Application will test the connection to your Thanos instance

Your AI agent can now query Thanos metrics.
